    At the end of 2014 a new law was introduced regarding property rentals (Artigo 16 – Titular da exploração do estabelecimento de alojamento local). One part of this law places particular emphasis on ensuring there is adequate public liability cover in place when people rent out their property. Public liability cover should be in place, not only for those who own rental properties, but also for those who manage property rentals on behalf of owners. If you currently rent out your property, we advise you to double check your house insurance policy, to ensure ‘rental public liability’ is included in the policy and that it is at an adequate level. If you are an individual or company who deals with property rentals on behalf owners, it is also important that you are adequately covered in terms of civil liability.
    By taking out a ‘Professional Indemnity policy, you protect yourself from claims arising from an error or omission in the exercise of your profession, but you may also be protected from incidents that may occur at the property which you could be deemed responsible for.
